My friend shared a meme on Facebook that said, “January was a hard year, but we made it.” It gave me a chuckle of truth.
First of all, it’s crazy to me that some months of the year feel like they drag on and are full of challenges.
Maybe that’s okay.
Passion- and Purpose-driven women often place a lot of pressure on themselves to accomplish a lot throughout the year anyway.
January can be a whole different beast filled with fresh new planners, goal sheets, expectations, and really big visions.
For example, in the past, I’ve filled my January with all of the new things I wanted to learn in the new year.
This puts a whole lot of pressure on January to be the month that changes everything.
Have you ever done that?
The hardest part is that it’s nearly impossible to accomplish everything and still live your life, get rest, and not burn out.
It’s important to be realistic about what is possible to do in a month’s time.
I love a good big, bold vision. I really do. And I truly believe that anything that feels right and natural is possible.
I am also more and more keenly aware that there are still only 24 hours in the day.
AND we are allowed breathing room and time to rest and even wait for it…HAVE FUN.
We don’t have to fill every moment with an action or an attempt at an accomplishment.
In fact, if we try to do that we will end up exhausted and mad at ourselves for not keeping up.
The truth is that when we try to do less, we accomplish more.
Consider this,
The sun emits about 3.86 x 10 to the 26th power watts of energy. #nerdalert
That is 3.86 with 24 zeros and 26 moves of that decimal.
But that sunlight is spread out far and wide. With that wattage, you’d expect it to burn everything in its path.
But it doesn’t because it’s not focused.
Now a laser with focused energy of fewer than 20 watts can cut diamonds.
It’s all because of the narrowed focus.
If you want to accomplish more, plan to do less.
Start with the most important thing and do that.
Imagine how it feels to accomplish that goal.
That energetic surge will give you the momentum to move on and through the next big thing on your list.
If doing it all at once isn’t working for you, give it a try.
I think you’ll love the results.
Do want is important. Focus your energy where it makes the most impact.
I believe in you.
